Eisenhower students lead NEISD board meeting

Students Isabella Krudop and Rudolph F. Jass III from Eisenhower Middle School kicked off the regular meeting of the North East ISD Board of Trustees on May 13.

Isabella, who led the invocation, has been a dual language student since kindergarten. Currently in the eighth grade, she has been recognized for outstanding achievement in all her core subjects maintaining straight As all three years at Eisenhower. She has also received the Five Star General’s Award. She scored in the 100 percentile on her STAAR Tests the past two years. Isabella is also a proud member of the National Junior Honor Society.

Rudolph (known as Tres) led the pledge to U.S. and Texas flags and is in the seventh grade at Eisenhower. He is in the National Junior Honor Society, and plays the trumpet in the Honors Band. He has been accepted into the Peer Assistance Leadership and Service program (PALS). Tres was on the A-team for basketball, played golf, tennis, track, and soccer, in addition to being the manager for the football team.

DEIC Outstanding Service

The District Educational Improvement Council is a committee that supports the establishment and review of the District’s educational goals, objectives, and major Districtwide classroom instructional programs. It is comprised of campus based professional staff, District-level professional staff, parents, business leaders and community members.

NEISD Student of the Year

Hannah Crocker is a senior at Reagan High School. Hannah has been involved with the Children’s Association for Maximum Potential (CAMP), NEISD Special Olympics, the Down Syndrome Association, Special Reach, as well as heading the Board of the non-profit Artful Start, which offers art to children of all abilities. Hannah has been a summer counselor at CAMP the last three years where she has earned more than 1,000 volunteer hours helping campers. She will attend the University of Texas at Austin in the fall where she will major in Special Education so that she can continue to be an advocate for the special needs community.

Soccer State Finalists

Congratulations to the LEE High School soccer team for an outstanding season.They came in second in the state this year with a record of 26-3-1.This is the best run in school history.  The last time LEE soccer made it to state was 1997, and they were eliminated in the semi-final game.

San Antonio Mayor’s Cup Best Middle School Team

Through CyberPatriot competition, these students compete in a virtual position where they are tasked with finding and fixing cybersecurity vulnerabilities while maintaining critical services for a small company.  The students enhance not only their technical skills, but their communication, teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking skills – each of which is a skill that all industries are begging for our students to come to them with upon graduation.

Mayor’s Cyber Cup Runner Up Open Division, Team 11-3156

Through CyberPatriot competition, these students compete in a virtual position where they are tasked with finding and fixing cybersecurity vulnerabilities while maintaining critical services for a small company.  The students enhance not only their technical skills, but their communication, teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking skills – each of which is a skill that all industries are begging for our students to come to them with upon graduation.

Mayor’s Cyber Cup Winner, 1st Place Open Division

Mayor’s Cyber Cup Best Service Division Team

This team is from the Engineering and Technology Academy (ETA) at Roosevelt High School.

The JROTC CyberPatriot Team from Roosevelt High School placed third out of the top 13 teams from all military service teams selected to participate in the National CyberPatriot XI competition in Baltimore, Maryland last month.  The team also was named the National Champions for the Cisco Networking Systems competition and first place for the All Service San Antonio Mayors Cyber Cup competition. The student/cadets were wearing the Leather Bomber Jackets presented by the Air Force Association who sponsor the CyberPatriot National competitions.

Reagan High School Unarmed Drill Team

The Reagan High School "Diamondback Unarmed Drill Team" captured the title of  “National Runner-Up ” at the 2019 All Army JROTC National Drill Team Championships last month in Richmond, Virginia.  The Team Coach is Master Sergeant John Tijerina.

Roosevelt High School Armed Drill Team

The Roosevelt High School "San Juan Guard Armed Drill Team" captured third place honors at the 2019 All Army JROTC National Drill Team Championships last month in Richmond, Virginia.  The Team Coach is Command Sergeant Major Ansley Harris.

State and National Visual Art Award Winners

These Visual Art students have earned the highest art awards possible at the State and National levels. For the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the students were Gold Key winners at the national level for their originality, technical skill, and emergence of personal vision and voice. They will receive their awards at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June. For the State Visual Art Scholastic Event the students earned the highest medallion from 2,800 entries at the State event advancing from 38,000 regional entries statewide. Of those highest medallion students, Piper Bangs from North East School of the Arts earned Gold Seals for both of her advanced entries, along with a scholarship. Of the original 38,000 statewide entries, only 150 are given Gold Seals. She was the only ESC Region 20 West student to earn this honor.
