Family Engagement is essential to the educational success of all students and at Eisenhower Middle School, family engagement is very much alive and well. On Tuesday, April 23, a group of 15 parents from Eisenhower visited Texas A&M San Antonio. Eisenhower’s Family Specialist contacted former NEISD Family Specialist and current University Adjunct Professor Karen Kohler for assistance in coordinating this event.
The friendly and professional university staff and students made this trip a wonderful learning experience. The university tour guide Martin, a first generation college student, shared with the parents the challenges he has faced. Martin is proud to be a Jaguar and it definitely shows as he tells of how this four-year university came to be in South San Antonio. As the parents made their way through each building, Martin made certain to point out the beautiful artwork adorning the walls.
