Roosevelt CyberPatriots recognized by Governor Greg Abbott

The Roosevelt High School CyberPatriot team celebrated its 3rd place finish at the CyberPatriot XI National Finals with a trip to the Texas State Capitol Wednesday, April 17. Governor Greg Abbott congratulated the Roosevelt team in person and posed for photos with North East ISD students and staff to cap off another successful season.

“We’re very proud of what the kids have accomplished to get here,” said Colonel Robert Henson, NEISD Director of Army Instruction. “All of these activities revolve around cybersecurity, and there are thousands of unfilled jobs in that industry and these young people are preparing themselves for the future.”

The Roosevelt team was also the only Texas school to be recognized on stage at CyberPatriot XI in Baltimore, Maryland. The rest of the winners were from California. In addition to their 3rd place finish, Roosevelt was also named CISCO Networking Challenge Champion, and each student earned a $1,000 scholarship from Northrop Grumman.

Roosevelt's CyberPatriot team is made up of JROTC cadets and Engineering and Technology Academy (ETA) students. Congratulations to coach Josh Beck and team members Fardeen Bhimani, Harrison Lewis, Samantha Peace, Tristan Lee, and Jacob Rahimi.
