Rey Feo stops by Windcrest to visit students

Rey Feo and his royal court made a stop at Windcrest Elementary School ahead of Fiesta San Antonio on Thursday, March 7. Eight Girl Scouts welcomed the group when they arrived and escorted them to the gym where the entire study body was waiting for them. After pumping up the crowd, Rey Feo spoke to the students about the importance of integrity and standing back up after you fall.

“Like Rey Feo told the students, he came from a hard life but he became a doctor, and we want our students to know that no matter how many times they fall, it’s okay to get back up,” said Elizabeth Jaramillo, Site Coordinator with Communities in Schools (CIS).

Rey Feo presented Principal Todd Voges with a special plaque commemorating their visit and donated a book for students to read in the library. Each student also received a light-up orange Whataburger bracelet. Rey Feo and his royal court wrapped up the visit with a dance off, and Windcrest teachers even joined the fun.

“I think this was an important visit because Rey Feo provides inspiration and a goal and accomplishment, and kids can look up to them and say I can do that. If he was able to do that I can do that,” said Jaramillo.
