Tuscany Heights Elementary third graders kick off United Way Shoebox Project

Tuscany Heights Elementary School third graders have been busy at work collecting for families in need. On Tuesday, March 5, the students presented over 100 shoeboxes that they filled and decorated with personal care items to be distributed to local nonprofits.

“We are so proud of our 3rd grade students and teachers as well as our librarian for making such an IMPACT on our community,” said Tara Bailey, Tuscany principal. “What a wonderful act of kindness during the month of February all while learning about natural disasters.”

Shoebox recipients include children in emergency shelters, school children, needy families, abused women and children, troops in need, lonely seniors and many others.

The Shoebox Project runs from Monday, March 4, through April 26, and United Way is working create 15,800 personal care packages.
