LEE JROTC cadet racking up scholarship offers

LEE High School JROTC cadet Jackeline Medellin has been racking up scholarship offers during her senior year. Medellin serves as the LEE Battalion Commander while balancing several key responsibilities in and out of JROTC. She’s a member of the National Honor Society (NHS), involved in the Peer Assistance Leadership and Service (PALS) program, is the commander of the Junior Leadership Academic Bowl and has been named the Unarmed Drill Captain for the last three years.

So far, Medellin has been offered more than $150,000 in scholarships from universities like University of the Incarnate Word, Abilene Christian University, Norwich University, and the University of Vermont.

“All the hard work I have done since my freshman year, has really paid off,” said Medellin. “I can’t make a decision on which university I want to attend until I know whether or not I got an ROTC scholarship from Texas A&M or Texas State University.”
