Tuscany Heights opens Social Emotional Learning Lab

Tuscany Heights Elementary School opened its very own Social Emotional Learning Lab thanks to a grant from the North East Educational Foundation (NEEF). On Tuesday, Jan. 8, a ribbon cutting ceremony with NEEF Directors, parent volunteers and staff was held to jump-start the new semester of learning.

“We are so excited to give the students a chance to PLAY again,” said kindergarten teacher Kim Young. “Students enter our school to learn academics, but learning to share and collaborate are extremely important skills. This lab is going to do just that.”

The lab will be used by kindergarten students who can take part in a small-scale archaeological-dig, bounce on trampolines and build large Lego forts. These play skills help the small students learn valuable skills they will use for a lifetime including teamwork, leadership and creativity.
