LEE JROTC cadet awarded recruiting ribbon

The LEE High School JROTC recognized cadet Kevin Marquez with the recruiting ribbon for his commitment to growing the program this semester. The recruiting ribbon is awarded to a cadet who helps goes above and beyond to help recruit new members to the JROTC program. Marquez distinguished himself this semester by recruiting seven new cadets.

“I told them JROTC is not about joining the Army,” said Marquez. “It’s about making friends and becoming a better citizen.”

“In my eight years as an Army Instructor at LEE High School I have never seen a cadet recruit so many students into our program,” said 1st Sgt. Hector Reyes, LEE JROTC Instructor. “Kevin recruited these students by dispelling the misconception that you have to join the military, and telling students how much fun he has competing in the different teams and the family environment that the Volunteer Battalion exemplifies.”
