Madison Agriscience Magnet Program hosts College and Career Fair

Hundreds of Madison High School students got the chance to explore career and college options at the fifth annual Agriculture College and Career Fair Friday, Nov. 16. Representatives from 16 universities and 11 business and industry partners set up in the Agriscience Magnet Program (AMP) Complex so students could ask questions and gather information.

“It’s targeted for specifically for students within our Agriscience Magnet Program to show them essentially what’s next,” Doak Stewart, Director of the Agriscience Magnet Program. “Hopefully they’ll get a better idea about some of the opportunities beyond our walls.”

Students weren’t just shopping for colleges. Businesses like John Deere, Alamo Cement, HEB and companies associated with the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association were also there to inform students about opportunities after high school.

“We also brought in military representatives so that students can see the connection of jobs that are offered in the military that are agriculture based and still support what we do in the armed forces,” said Stewart.

Nearly 600 students attended the Agriculture College and Career Fair.
