Clear Spring Elementary celebrates 50 years

The Clear Spring Elementary School community from the past and present came together for a celebration of 50 years on Friday, Nov. 16. The morning started in the school cafeteria with photos from each decade, from 1968-2018, on display on the stage for all to see. Principal Carlos Hoffman welcomed former Clear Spring staff, principals and community members to the assembly while current students applauded 50 years of school history.

“From the bottom of my heart I thank each and every one of you for being a part of our celebration today,” said Hoffman. “In some way or another, we are all part of Clear Spring history, and without question we all have contributed to this entity.”

Clear Spring created a time capsule in honor of its 50th anniversary. Students were polled on their favorite books, movies, TV shows and apps of 2018. The results will be placed inside the capsule for the next 25 years, and will be opened in 2043.

“On behalf of our Board and our Executive Staff, I want to thank the teachers, students and community for making Clear Spring Elementary such a special place,” Dr. Brian G. Gottardy, Superintendent of Schools. “Congratulations on 50 great years, and we look forward to 50 more great years.”

The celebration ended with a rousing performance from Clear Spring student dancers on the step team.

North East ISD Board Secretary Sandy Hughey and Trustees Joseph Trevino and Sandy Winkley were also in attendance, as well as Associate Superintendent of Operations Ron Clary, Associate Superintendent for Instruction and Campus Administration Dr. Donna Newman, and Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Campus Administration Dr. Sean Maika.
