NEISD serves up a Thanksgiving feast

North East ISD cafeterias served up a Thanksgiving feast on Thursday, Nov. 15. The annual meal offers students and guests roast turkey with cornbread dressing, gravy, a homemade wheat roll, mashed potatoes, green beans, a sweet potato square, pineapple tidbits or fresh fruit and milk on the last Thursday before the break.

Every NEISD campus served the Thanksgiving menu, while 19 elementary campuses invited parents to join their students for the special lunch. Fox Run Elementary School had more than 120 families RSVP for the traditional feast.

“We know that students, parents, and staff look forward to the special menu,” said Sharon Glosson, Executive Director of NEISD School Nutrition Services. “The menu is very labor intensive for the kitchen staff because so much of the meal is made from scratch. They are preparing all week for today’s menu. It makes us so happy to make sure that each student has the opportunity to have a traditional turkey dinner.”

The traditional turkey dinner is also on the menu during the week prior to winter break.
