Madison FFA captures two National Championship titles

Four Future Farmers of America (FFA) members from Madison High School helped capture two National Championship titles at the National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis Oct. 22-27.

In the Agriscience Fair, senior Hannah Taylor and former Agriscience Magnet Program student Ashley Walker were named National Champions in the senior team division of Plant Systems. Sophomore Chase Lund Eagan finished third in the nation in the junior division of Plant Systems. Senior Alicia Montemayor was named National Champion with her Poultry Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency.

“It is an honor just to be a national finalist,” said Hannah Taylor. “However, bringing a national championship home to Texas and specifically James Madison FFA is an even bigger honor.”

Each student was recognized on the convention stage in front of more than 50,000 FFA members from across the country, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Many of the students received cash awards or scholarships to be used in future educational endeavors.
