Ed White students paint dance studio murals

Art students at Ed White Middle School teamed up to create two murals now hanging in the studio at SMASH Dance Fitness. On Saturday, Nov. 3, the dance and fitness studio unveiled several new murals created by San Antonio area artists. Ed White art teacher Stacey Morrison created a Zumba mural for SMASH, and recruited her art students to help create two more murals for the studio.

“It was so cool for them to be able to show off the work they did and for me to be able to share our #EdWhiteStory with even more people,” said Morrison.

The Art 3 students in Morrison’s class are a mixture of Ed White and DATA students. Painting and conceptualizing two 5 by 4 feet murals gave them the chance to work as a team, and many students put in extra hours working on the murals after school and during lunch. Morrison and Ed White principal Bethany Lorge attended the mural reveal, along with several students who were excited to see their work on display.

Smash Dance is a dance studio that offers fitness classes for all levels, in addition to a children's dance program. They also donate their services to community organizations, such as the Hector Garza Center and the Selena Center, offering dance therapy.
