LEE JROTC take aim at MSG Benavidez Memorial Match

LEE High School JROTC cadets took aim during the Master Sergeant Roy Benavidez Memorial Marksmanship Match on Thursday, Oct. 25. The air rifle team specializes in marksmanship with compressed air rifles. During competition, the three positions the cadets shoot in are standing, kneeling and prone. 

Cadet Gabe Palos finished third out of 48 shooters in the precision category with 569 points. LEE’s precision team featuring Palos, Chloe Sandlin, Trinity Garcia and James Gustin finished second overall.

In the sporter category, Jose Arenas placed 20th out of 126 competitors with a score of 511 while Isaac Sanchez finished in 24th place.

“I am very pleased with my score,” said Sanchez. “My goal is to improve myself enough to compete at the CMP Nationals this year.”    

LEE’s Areyana Webb shot a 482 and Desirae Hernandez scored a 462 in the sporter competition as well.
