Castle Hills students start first day of school

Excitement filled the air as students began the 2018-2019 school year at Castle Hills Elementary School on Tuesday, July 24. Smiling staff, parent volunteers and Watch D.O.G.S. opened doors, helped manage drop-off duties and guided students to their new classrooms.

The Castle Hills PTA sponsored a Boohoo/Yahoo Breakfast for parents that included donuts, coffee and other delicious treats to ease the fears some parents might be feeling after leaving their child in the classroom. Many parents used the opportunity to meet fellow parents and share summer stories.

“For me, the excitement is seeing all the familiar faces of students who return with a smile, as well as the new faces,” said Castle Hills Principal, Betsy Asheim. “The outlook is bright when you work with a staff who is dedicated to ensuring that every child is a winner every day.  How many jobs can you say that about? When you believe that every child can be successful, each school day is full of possibilities.”

Castle Hills is NEISD’s only year-round elementary school and a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. All other elementary schools follow the traditional calendar and will kick off the 2018-2019 school year on Monday, Aug. 27.
