NEISD students honor local veterans

NEISD students at Northeast Senior Center for Veterans Day

Honor, sacrifice and patriotism were on full display at the City of San Antonio’s Northeast Senior Center, where students from Driscoll Middle School, Madison High School and MacArthur High School helped make their Veteran’s Day ceremony one to remember.

MacArthur JROTC cadets were on hand to present the colors to dozens of veterans and families in attendance while Alexandra Martinez, a senior at Madison, sang the National Anthem.

Students from Driscoll’s Student 2 Student program also engaged with veterans. They set up a photo booth before the ceremony and passed out American flag pins and poppies to veterans.

S2S connects civilian students with new military students the day they arrive to ensure they have a friendly face to answer questions, show them around, eat lunch together and more. NEISD is proud to have the S2S program in place at every elementary, middle and high school.

Service is a key component of our S2S programs. Students and sponsors at Driscoll are always looking for ways to engage with the community, show their support and honor our veterans #theNEISDway.
