Drop Everything and Read with Me

Books are a passport to a world of adventure. At any point during your day, you can unplug from your day-to-day life and take an exciting journey. All you need is your imagination and a good book.

The Drop Everything and Read with Me program at Montgomery Elementary School inspires students to do just that.

Volunteers recently stopped by to read with the kids and share some of their favorite stories. Stephanie Nious is a lifelong reader and jumped at the chance to share her love of stories and books with Montgomery students.

“I’ve always loved school and loved to read. Growing up, books were a way for me to escape and take me wherever I wanted to go. This is a great opportunity to give back.”

When a love of reading starts early, students can improve their literacy skills and enhance their focus and concentration all while exploring new topics and narratives. There’s also a strong sense of community among readers who share the same interests.

Drop Everything and Read with Me is truly a win-win for our volunteers and our students. You don’t have to get lost in a good book to find a new adventure. Consider signing up to volunteer! Learn more about volunteering at NEISD.
