“I want people to feel welcome wherever they are and feel like they belong.”

Student 2 Student (S2S) training is underway.

Dozens of North East ISD students are starting the week learning how to better support new students with a two-day training session at Piper Bass Memorial Student Center.

S2S is an award-winning program connecting civilian students with newly-enrolled military children to ease the transition of being the “new kid” at school. They tour the campus together, eat lunch together and answer questions that come with moving to a new place.

Bradley s2s teamSeventh-grader Serafina Smith is one of the new S2S ambassadors at Bradley Middle School and she’s looking forward to putting her training to good use this year.

“I enjoy helping people and making friends. I know it can be hard for new students, so I am happy to help.  So far, we have learned ways to welcome new students and how to help out around our schools and community.”

S2S is now at every campus, making it easier for NEISD to help military-connected students.
