Meet the 2023 NEISD Teacher of the Year Finalists

Congratulations to North East ISD’s 2023 Teacher of the Year Finalists!

NEISD Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Sean Maika, and Executive Staff visited three elementary and three secondary campuses to surprise each finalist with the good news this week. 

NEISD will celebrate all of our 2023 Teacher of the Year candidates during a ceremony in May. The Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year will be announced then. 

Elementary Teacher of the Year Finalists:

• Julie Vandertulip, Encino Park Elementary School 
• Natalie Watts, Huebner Elementary School 
• Gabriela De Los Santos, Roan Forest Elementary School 

Secondary Teacher of the Year Finalists:

• Jennifer Perelstein, Nimitz Middle School 
• Jessica Saenz, Madison High School 
• Hana Velik, Roosevelt High School
