How NEISD Student 2 Student programs are leading the way

Military-connected children may move up to six times in their school careers. North East ISD’s partnership with Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) ensures their transition to a new school is a smooth one through our award-winning Student 2 Student (S2S) program.

S2S connects civilian students with new military students the day they arrive to ensure they have a friendly face to answer questions, show them around, eat lunch together and more. NEISD is proud to have the S2S program in place at every elementary, middle and high school.

Dr. Sean Maika, NEISD Superintendent of Schools, was interviewed by MCEC at Reagan High School in July 2021. The impact that S2S has had across the District is featured in a new MCEC video.

“We’re so blessed in the North East Independent School District to work with MCEC who helps bring the Student 2 Student program to every one of our schools,” said Maika. “Student 2 Student helps them find that friendly adult face, that friendly child’s face somewhere in that school to make that personal connection.”
