Kindness Challenge takes off at MacArthur
Kindness is spreading across MacArthur High School.
The MacArthur Unity Club, AVID program and library kicked off the new year with a January Kindness Challenge. As you enter the library, you’ll notice a giant Kindness Challenge calendar on the wall with a new challenge for each day. The challenges vary from sharing a simple kind word with a stranger to creating kindness posters after school with the Unity Club to post around campus.
Librarian Janelle Schnacker says the overall message is a reminder that creating a kinder world starts with us.
“Creating a kinder world is not one giant gesture,” said Schnacker. “It’s a series of simple daily actions that build toward a better sense of kindness and community for everyone.”
MacArthur Unity Club Sponsor and AVID teacher Reagan Beres is proud to see her students inspiring kindness around campus. They even created positive bookmarks to hide in library books.
“The Mac AVID students got in on the fun and created positive bookmarks to hide in library books to offer an encouraging word for the surprised reader. In the words of Aesop, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.’”
