Why this Thousand Oaks fifth-grader decided to cut her long hair
A new haircut can inspire confidence and pride, especially when a routine trim will help someone in need. Rose Bonner, a fifth-grader at Thousand Oaks Elementary School, knows exactly what that feels like. She recently donated 10 inches of hair to Locks of Love.
"I was nervous, but I also felt really good about it because I knew it would help someone a lot," said Bonner. "It makes me feel really good. I also wanted a cool short haircut so it's a win-win."
Rose's win-win is going to make a big difference. Locks of Love is a non-profit charity that provides people suffering from hair loss for a variety of reasons with a donated hairpiece free of charge. Many of the wigs go to children with alopecia and cancer. The organization relies on generous donations from people like Rose.
Great job, Rose!
