Johnson Smart Driving Club earns state award
Johnson High School's Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) and Smart Driving Club have another accolade to their name - this time at a state level. The group was recently named the Outstanding Advocate for Children by the Texas PTA.
Melinda Cox, parent sponsor for the Smart Driving Club, says this recognition is a testament to the club's hard work and advocacy efforts.
"Advocacy has been part of Texas PTA's mission and legacy for nearly 112 years," said Cox. "As a sponsor for the Johnson PTSA Smart Driving Club, I am very honored our PTSA is a partner in this legacy and has been recognized with this award. I am proud of the continuous efforts of our club students. Students are PTSA members and empowered advocates for change. The work done by this student-led club helps break the culture of distracted driving and save lives. Thank you to Texas PTA for this recognition and support."
The Smart Driving Club began in 2012 with a mission to promote safe driving and remind drivers of all ages about the dangers of driving distracted.
