Ed White CyberPatriots learn from the best
CyberPatriots season is officially underway across NEISD campuses 🖥️
The team at Ed White Middle School kicked off their season with a special guest. Brett Sammis, a mentor to the teens, is a U.S. Army veteran with more than 20 years of experience in data analysis and the information technology field.
The kids spent time learning about cybersecurity topics, such as the CIA Triad, vulnerabilities and malware. Brett was able to expand on that, offering up valuable insight thanks to his job managing security compliances for software development.
Eighth grader Lunden Mims was excited to gain practical, real-world insights that tie back into the CyberPatriots competition.
"Confidentiality keeps unauthorized people out, availability ensures access, and integrity protects data," explained Mims.
CyberPatriots is a national program that teaches cybersecurity skills through team-based competitions. This team is open to Ed White and Design and Technology Academy (DATA) students.
