The field trip that changed everything

Do you remember when you started to dream about your future? For Olivia Lyons, it was during a campus tour of North East ISD’s Agriscience Magnet Program at Madison High School when she was in kindergarten at Steubing Ranch Elementary School.

“What stuck with me from going to AMP in Kindergarten was the animal barns and being able to keep your animals there on campus when you’re in FFA. I think that is such a good opportunity for kids who live in the city to experience, and I can’t wait to have a goat and maybe a steer,” said Olivia. “Going to open houses and tours of the campus, everyone I met was so nice and friendly and really seemed to love going there -- I’m excited to get to be a part of that and meet new people.”

AMP students earn industry-level certifications, receive hands-on training and have opportunities for internships across six pathways: Agriculture Mechanics, Animal Science, Environmental Science, Floriculture and Veterinary Technology. If your child has a passion for plants, animals, or agriculture, AMP could be the start they need to pursue that passion.
