Week 3 Distance Learning ELAR

Parents,

I hope that everyone is holding up strong. This week we will be starting week 3 of our Distance Learning. It will be a short week since we have Good Friday.

A couple of updates for this week:

I will no longer be doing ZOOM lessons due to security.  Lately there has been a lot of ZOOM bombing with people entering meeting rooms that should not be there. I can still meet with your child via ZOOM by providing them with a secure link and password or by phone when needed. In lieu of ZOOM meetings, I will be posting videos of the lessons every week in order to help students through the expectation and completion of the work.

I have many students that have not started or completed the work. Since this is a block class and we cover both reading and writing should be working for about 40-60 min per lesson. There are 2 lessons per week therefore they should be working for about 1 ½ -2 hours per week on these assignments. Again, this is covering 2 subjects both reading and writing.

Grades have been entered into Skyward. Make sure to log not Skyward to review your student’s grades for week 1 &2 of Distance Learning. If your student is showing an I that means it is incomplete and no work has been submitted. If your student shows IP for a grade, that means that they either received a packet but have not returned it or logged into google classroom and only did partial work.

If you picked up a packet and were not able to turn it in, you can take pictures of the work and email it to me. My contact info is ocalaw@neisd.net or you can text message me at 210- 570-9426.

I know the process is hard and there is a lot going on for all of us, but I really appreciate the support in ensuring your child’s education through these difficult times. I am here to help and support you and your student through our Distance Learning. I am available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. -4:00 p.m.

The next drop off and pick up for assignments will be on Thursday April 9 form 8-12. You will be able to drop work off and we will be providing you with 3 weeks of work to get us through May 4 our current closure date. This is to help minimize our contact.

Parents I am here for you and your student please reach out !

Best,

Ms. Calaway
