Impactful. Challenging. Eye-opening. Fun.
Impactful. Challenging. Eye-opening. Fun.
Those are just a few of the words that NEISD students enrolled in the Lifetime Recreation & Outdoor Pursuits (LROP) PE class used to describe a recent opportunity. Around 30 students from MacArthur, Reagan and Roosevelt spent three days at Echo Ranch in Leakey, TX, thanks to a partnership with the H. E. Butt Foundation.
The students got to practice the skills they’ve been learning in LROP, like hiking, kayaking and mountain biking. One particularly moving moment for the NEISD PE & Health Department staff was watching students teach other students how to ride a bike. The hands-on, collaborative retreat was exhausting and life-changing for both students and chaperones.
