Shannon Grona, President
"I have a passion for our district as evidenced by my volunteer experience. I am committed to ensuring that the education of our children is a top priority. I want our students to be the best and to be prepared for whatever life holds for them – whether it is going to college, joining the military or entering the workforce. I also want to make sure that our district remains fiscally responsible. I believe that NEISD is the best district, and I want to help continue that Tradition of Excellence."
Shannon Grona was elected to the North East ISD Board of Trustees in 2012, served as the Vice President from 2014-2016 and currently serves as the President.
She has an extensive career as a PTA volunteer. She was a PTA Officer for seven years, including President at Tejeda Middle School, Treasurer and 3rd VP at Johnson High School, and Fundraising VP at both Roan Forest Elementary and Tejeda. She was an officer on the North East Council of PTAs for four years. And during those four years, she also served as an officer on two local unit PTA boards.
Mrs. Grona has been recognized for her dedication and service multiple times. She is a recipient of the Texas PTA Extended Service Award, the National PTA Life Member Award, and the Texas PTA Life Member Award. She was the District Outstanding Volunteer for 2009 and 2010 and received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award at either the Gold or Silver level from 2006 – 2012.
She completed the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Signature Program and is a graduate of Leadership North East.
Mrs. Grona grew up and attended public schools in Denison and is a graduate of Austin College. She worked in the banking industry as a Compliance Officer and Internal Auditor for eleven years. Her husband, Nelson, is a local business owner and they have two children. Hunter is a 2014 graduate of Johnson High School and a 2018 graduate of Texas A&M University; Lauren is a 2017 graduate of Johnson High School and will be a sophmore at Texas A&M University.
