The generous donation providing Larkspur students with smiles and shoes

Students, smiles and 900 pairs of shoes!

Every student at Larkspur Elementary School got a brand new pair of shoes today thanks to a donation by San Antonio Threads.

They are a non-profit providing new clothing and accessories to teenagers in San Antonio.

“This is super exciting; it was great to see the kids pick out a new pair of shoes. It’s great to see all the excitement,” said San Antonio Threads CEO Cathy Hamilton. “It’s great to be able to give back to the community. It makes everything worth everything. When they feel good and look good, they concentrate on school.”

Larkspur Family Specialist Ana De La Tejera helped organize the event.

Dozens of Churchill High School PALS (Peer Assistance Leadership and Service) helped the future Chargers find the right shoes and get them laced up.

Once the students got their new shoes, they drew pictures and wrote thank-you notes for the people at San Antonio Threads.

“We would not be as successful as we are in providing resources to our families and students without our community partners’ cooperation,” said De La Tejera. “Plus, the Churchill PALS have been incredible. They take the initiative. They are quick. They have been invaluable. I feel like I have the best job in the world.”

Thank you, San Antonio Threads, for helping our students #theNEISDway.
