Two very impressive students from Jackson-Keller Elementary School started the regular North East ISD Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, Oct. 11. Fifth graders Jane Lowry and Adrianna Salazar led NEISD leaders and community members in an invocation and pledge to the U.S. and Texas flags before the business meeting began.

Jane is a dual language student, and she led the invocation with a poem called Dare to Dream, which she read in both English and Spanish. Jackson-Keller Principal Anna Nicolai highlighted Jane’s academic accomplishments like being a Hyper-Accelerated Math student and a Gifted and Talented student. She also is a member of the choir and safety patrols. Jane was joined by her mother Emily, and her grandparents Michael and Lisa.

Adrianna led the pledges. Principal Nicolai highlighted Adrianna’s participation in choir, safety patrols, student council and Hyper-Accelerated Math. In fact, Adrianna is President of the Student Council this year. In addition, Adrianna has performed at a Legacy of Educational Excellence (LEE) football game with the cheerleaders. She was joined by her mother, Angela De Leon.

Jackson-Keller is one of NEISD’s new extended calendar elementary campuses, offering parents and students a new option for their academic calendar.
