Parental Involvement
Flu Shot Clinic Parent Volunteers
In the fall, NEISD coordinated a Flu Shot Initiative with the help of school nurses and parent volunteers. The Healthy Schools program provided free flu shots for students in area public schools. This year, that included 30 schools at NEISD. The nurses needed help to coordinate the event, and these parents stepped up. Parents were asked to pick up students from their class and deliver them to the shot clinic location; monitor students while they were in line; make sure they had consent forms; monitor the students after their shot for 15 minutes and report any issues; and then finally deliver the students back to their class. A total of 1,627 flu vaccines were administered this year over just three days and we couldn't have done it without these wonderful parent volunteers.
Thank You Parents!
