NEISD middle schools build global relationships

China meeting

It’s often been said these days that we are better together. North East ISD middle school students, are proving just that. Students from Driscoll Middle School and Garner Middle School recently got together with middle school students in Wuxi, China, virtually.

“They had pre-arranged topics to discuss, including space travel, COVID-19 vaccine, education, and the environment,” said Driscoll teacher Ashli Andersen. “In break out rooms, the students talked about their housing. Wuxi students taught the San Antonio students a little Mandarin too. It was a great cultural exchange between the cities.”

The City of San Antonio’s International Relations Office and Global Elite Education set up the meetings between the two countries.

“This was an experience I will carry with me for the rest of my life!” said Driscoll seventh-grader Angelina Nieto Otero.
