Iconic David Lee “Tex” Hill print finds new home at namesake campus

Iconic David Lee “Tex” Hill print finds new home at namesake campus An iconic print of World War II pilot David Lee “Tex” Hill has found a new home in the halls of his namesake, Tex Hill Middle School. Jim Shaw painted the original piece, titled Tigers in the Gorge. The painting commemorates the WWII victory by the Flying Tigers of the American Volunteer Group (AVG) at the Salween River Gorge.

This print is now on display at Tex Hill, but it hung in Dr. Seth Witcher’s oral surgeon office for years before. Witcher gifted the print to Tex Hill with the help of his friend, retired U.S. Air Force veteran Dr. Jim Raddin.

“We are honored to have this beautiful piece front and center in our David Lee “Tex” Hill display case that honors our school namesake,” said Dr. Charles Reininger, Tex Hill Principal. “On behalf of everyone at Tex Hill, we want to thank Dr. Witcher for this generous donation.”

With this new addition, the pride of Tex Hill Middle School continues to grow #theNEISDway.
