Vineyard Ranch PTA lends helping hand to 'sister school' Oak Grove

The giving spirit is alive and well at Vineyard Ranch Elementary School. Parent Teacher Association (PTA) members lead the way every year, emphasizing giving back and paying it forward. Oak Grove Elementary School is a PTA partner and sister school to Vineyard Ranch. Their alliance resulted in a strong support system between two campuses that are always looking for ways to support each other.

Vineyard Ranch PTA members launched a tennis shoe donation drive in the spring but could not deliver them because of complications from COVID-19. The new sneakers were finally delivered and handed off to Oak Grove students in October.

"We have been paired with Oak Grove for as long as I can recall," said Katherine Thompson, Vineyard Ranch PTA President. "Every year, we run three or so drives with them. Typically there's one to launch the school year, one at the holidays and one in the spring. We base each drive on what the current needs are as determined by their campus' Family Specialist and what the students enjoy."

Each PTA is an advocate for its students, teachers, parents and community. At North East ISD, they're also advocates for other campus communities. Support spans the walls of each school, and the drive to take care of one another regardless of zip codes or clusters will always prevail.
