#NEISDcares | Food pantry offers extra support to Madison community

The Madison High School food pantry has been stepping up to support its students, families and community members all year long. Since the campus is currently closed, the remaining items in the pantry are being distributed to families dropping off or picking up their paper packets each Monday.

So far, Family Specialist Veronica Villegas and teacher Michael Schwarze passed out nearly 100 bags filled with canned goods, pasta, cereal and other nonperishable items.

"While the kiddos are getting their meals from the elementary schools, we may have college-age students, grandparents and parents that may need the extra assistance," said Villegas. "Families are experiencing a great deal of stress from the constant changes that we are all finding in these uncertain times. We're here to provide some extra help."

Inventory in the Madison food pantry is being steadily drained and Villegas says the Madison administrators and Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) members are working to collect more items and donations so they can continue to give back to those in need.
