Action for Healthy Kids honors Colonial Hills teacher

Colonial Hills Elementary School teacher, Terri Pitts, is getting another special recognition from Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK).

AFHK mobilizes school professionals, families and communities to take steps that lead to healthy eating, physical activity, and healthier schools where kids thrive. At the core are thousands of committed and passionate people – parents, teachers, students, administrators, school wellness experts and more – who have banded together to create healthier learning environments for our children.

Pitts was selected as one of the organization’s Texas Heroes. This is the second time that Coach Pitts has been selected for this honor.

“She is an awesome child health advocate!” said Michelle Smith with AFHK.

Since 2004, the national organization has recognized Healthy School Heroes for their exceptional dedication and service towards the vision, mission, and goals of AFHK through volunteer work in their school communities.  Along with national winners, they have recognized TEXAS Healthy School Heroes for the past four years.

Pitts will be recognized on Monday, Nov. 18, in Austin, TX.
