NEISD students develop resume writing skills

North East ISD Summer School students expanded their resume and cover letter writing skills to help them prepare for the future. High school students at Madison High School spent time refining their technical skills needed to enter the workforce, including exercises that will improve their communication and interview skills. English teacher Paul Riser knows how important it is for them to develop this skillset.

“Preparing students for success post-high school is the NEISD way and is of the utmost importance,” says Riser. “Hamlet, The Canterbury Tales, and Beowulf will come toward the end of the Summer School semester, but for now we want them to have technological skills that will give them a competitive edge in the job market.”

Students used an online tutorial guide to strengthen their resumes, cover letters and reference pages. They also spent time composing their college entrance essays.
