Eisenhower celebrates “Ike’s Big Day”

Eisenhower Middle School staff, students and community members joined together to celebrate “Ike’s Big Day.” Each year Eisenhower celebrates the birthday of former President Dwight D. “Ike” Eisenhower. Councilman John Courage recognized and declared Saturday, Nov. 10 as “Ike’s Big Day” in District 9.

Churchill High School’s JROTC led the presentation of the colors and coordinated the firing of the cannon to kick off the celebration. Eisenhower’s PTA helped put together a celebratory festival with a photo booth, face paintings, inflatables and more. There was also a wide variety of delicious food and snacks available. A WWII Army jeep and the NEISD canine unit were also there, and officers from the San Antonio Police Department arrived in a helicopter. The children’s choir from Huebner Elementary School also performed at the festival.
