The deadline to apply to NEISD magnet schools is a little over a week away. I’m here today at the International School of the Americas, where students engage daily in real-world, project-based learning on a global scale.
This magnet high school emphasizes learning from a global perspective. With that comes many opportunities to travel and learn more about other cultures. Every student graduates with community service hours and the opportunity to explore career interests through an internship in their senior year. Every ISA student also participates in MUNSA, the nation’s largest student-run Model United Nations conference.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly event to attend this weekend, check out our ‘One Singular Sensation’ Fine Arts showcase. Students in Dance, Drill, Pep and Cheer from every high school will perform together inside Littleton Gym at Blossom Athletic Center on Saturday at 2 and 6 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. You don’t want to miss it.
I also want to take a moment to thank our dedicated NEISD Council of PTAs. I’m looking forward to celebrating with you next Thursday, at our annual Founders’ Day celebration. Texas Honorary Life Members, Extended Service, and National Lifetime Achievement award recipients from across our District will be recognized at this event. Thank you for all you do to support our students, staff and community.

La fecha límite para hacer solicitud para las escuelas magnet de NEISD está a poco más de una semana de distancia. Hoy me encuentro en la Escuela Internacional de las Américas, donde los estudiantes participan diariamente en el aprendizaje basado en proyectos del mundo real a escala global.
Esta escuela preparatoria magnet enfatiza el aprendizaje desde una perspectiva global. Con eso vienen muchas oportunidades para viajar y aprender más sobre otras culturas. Cada estudiante se gradúa con horas de servicio comunitario y la oportunidad de explorar los intereses profesionales a través de una pasantía en su último año. Cada estudiante de ISA también participa en MUNSA, la conferencia de las Naciones Unidas Modelo dirigida por estudiantes más grande del país.

También quiero tomar un momento para agradecer a nuestro dedicado Consejo de PTA de NEISD. Estoy deseando celebrar con ustedes el próximo jueves, en nuestra celebración anual del Día de los Fundadores. Los Miembros Honorarios de Vida de Texas, el Servicio Extendido y los beneficiarios del Premio Nacional a la Trayectoria de todo nuestro Distrito serán reconocidos en este evento. Gracias por todo lo que hacen para apoyar a nuestros estudiantes, personal y comunidad.
