There’s no debate, Reagan’s Katie Eanes is one of the best

Katie Eanes holds her 3rd place trophyReagan High School junior Katie Eanes is headed to nationals!

Katie recently won 3rd place in Informative Speaking out of 92 entries at the Texas Forensic Association State Speech and Debate tournament. Students compete at qualifying tournaments between August and February to accumulate enough points to compete at the state tournament in March.

Her ten-minute, memorized speech on the topic of epilepsy informed, entertained and enlightened audiences and judges and provided practical advice on how anyone can help if someone nearby is having a seizure.

Katie has been developing her skills as an actress and a speaker since her time at Lopez Middle School. She continues that work as a student in both theater and speech at Reagan.

Katie will continue to polish and perfect her speech as she prepares to compete with it at both the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions in May and the Nationals Speech and Debate Association National Tournament in June.

Congratulations, Katie!
