From Finger Paint to Fine Art
Is there anything better than a child showing off their latest work of art?
Stone Oak Elementary School pre-K teachers spent hours turning the stage in the cafeteria into a mini art gallery for pre-K students to show off their artwork and what they’ve learned.
They lined the walls with paper, played soft classical music and carefully hung each child’s artwork.
And these aren’t your average finger paintings. The students spent weeks learning about artists like Picasso and Monet and their impact on the art world. The students discovered new ways to create art using erasures, cupcake tins and tissue paper.
Pre-K student Julian Choi was especially proud of his Monet-inspired lily pad piece. His parents were beaming as he showed them around the gallery, looking for his art.
“It’s great just walking around and to see the joy and just how proud they were of their works,” said Julian’s father, Todd. “We’re excited to be a part of this.”
North East ISD offers pre-K programs at 36 of our elementary schools. We offer both tuition-based and qualification-based programs, as well as bilingual programs. It’s a great way to build a strong foundation for your child’s lifelong educational journey.
“We’ve had just a great first year and couldn’t be happier with how great it’s been here,” said Julian’s mom, Amber. “I’m glad that they have access to such a wonderful art program. I think it’s a great opportunity for them to express their creativity, and it’s nice to be able to have them be so proud to show us everything they’ve done.”
NEISD pre-K programs spark creativity, curiosity, and confidence.
