On November 8, 2019 the Roosevelt PALS, G/T English II and CTE Education classes are facilitating a STAAR prep field day at Camelot Elementary.  The event will run from 9:30 am until approximately 1:30 pm.  The staff at Camelot identified 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade TEKS from their benchmark data, and the G/T English students created fun, interactive lessons as part of their Gifted and Talented curriculum.  They then taught the lessons to the PALS and CTE Education students, and all three groups will create learning stations for the Camelot students at their campus.

This will be the sixth time the Roosevelt PALS, CTE Education, and G/T English II classes have joined forces to work with the younger students in our community, and the third time we have brought our “field day” to Camelot Elementary.  We renamed our service project in 2018 in honor of Roosevelt alumni Emmanuel Pena, whom we tragically lost in a traffic accident the summer after he graduated.  Manny was passionate about becoming an educator, and had worked with the Camelot students and staff through the CTE Education program and PALS.  We were honored last year to be joined by his family and have invited them to return to see his legacy continue.
