Dual Language

NEISD’s dual language program is an effective approach to developing language proficiency and literacy in English and Spanish. It brings together native English speaking students and native Spanish speaking students in a classroom for academic instruction in both languages.

The program promotes bilingualism and bi-literacy, grade-level academic achievement and cross-cultural competence in all students. Students maintain their native language while adding another language, thus building pride and fluency in both cultures. Ideally, students begin the program in elementary school and move up each grade increasing the amount of Spanish instruction they receive each year.
