Recent Madison High School graduate Joe Trinidad left the Agriscience Magnet Program (AMP) with a huge advantage on his way to becoming a veterinarian.
Joe pursued his Certified Veterinary Assistant certification in high school and has been working at a vet clinic for the past few years. He took advantage of the opportunity to hone his skills at the clinic and at AMP and it paid off.
There are three levels when it comes to receiving this certification. Level 1 requires 300 clinic hours, 200 classroom hours and skills and written tests. Level 2 and Level 3 each require an additional 1,000 hours in the clinic.
Joe is the first student in AMP history to receive his Level 2 certification and the first in Texas to receive his Level 3 certification! He’ll be attending Texas A&M University in Kingsville this fall and will major in Animal Science, Pre-Vet.
