Leticia Sanchez

Officer Sanchez is charged with ensuring safety and security at our campuses, but recently she also ensured a Harris Middle School student survived a medical emergency. While at lunch duty, Officer Sanchez was approached by a student who was choking on food. She quickly performed the Heimlich Maneuver and dislodged the food. When asked why he went up to Officer Sanchez, the student said, “I didn’t know if she could help me because I was choking, but I knew she could find someone who could!” While the actual event lasted just a few minutes, the successful result was based upon hours of training over many years in law enforcement.
