Parent Message: Dec. 9, 2022

Next week, we’ll celebrate our staff, community members, parents, volunteers and students at one of my favorite events of the year. At the Superintendent's Award Ceremony, we honor those who have gone above and beyond in their service to others. There’s no shortage of outstanding recipients. 

I’m grateful for people like NEPD Officer John Trevino. He organized a Make-A-Wish style event for a Driscoll Middle School student who always dreamed of being a police officer. Thanks to Officer Trevino’s kindness, Antonio Briones-Ortega has his own NEPD badge and uniform. 

A generous donation by San Antonio Threads provided every Larkspur Elementary School student with a new pair of shoes. This non-profit donated a total of 900 pairs of shoes to our students at no cost to them. 

And retired San Antonio Police Officer Frank San Miguel is a positive force and extra set of eyes for students and staff. Every week, he volunteers his time at Encino Park, Longs Creek and Regency Place Elementary School checking doors and building relationships with our students. 

There are many exceptional unsung heroes across our District. These are just a few of the incredible individuals we’ll honor at our Superintendent’s Award Ceremony next Wednesday, December 14. 

Spurs fans, you won’t want to miss this discount. Tuesday, January 17, will be NEISD Night at the AT&T Center when the San Antonio Spurs play the Brooklyn Nets. Our staff, families and community members are invited to attend and represent NEISD.

A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold will benefit our North East Educational Fund. 

You and your family are also invited to attend Flannel Fest tonight at Bradley Middle School’s Mill Springs Cabin from 6 – 8:30 p.m. This holiday-themed event is free to the public and will include an elf scavenger hunt, tours of the cabin complex, a visit from Cowboy Santa and much more.

La próxima semana, celebraremos a nuestro personal, miembros de la comunidad, padres, voluntarios y estudiantes en uno de mis eventos favoritos del año. En la Ceremonia de Entrega del reconicimeinto del Superintendente, honramos a aquellos que han ido más allá en su servicio para los demás. No hay escasez de destinatarios destacados. 

Estoy agradecido por gente como el oficial de NEPD John Trevino. Quien organizó un evento estilo Make-A-Wish para un estudiante de la Secundaria Driscoll que siempre soñó con ser un oficial de policía. Gracias a la amabilidad del oficial Trevino, Antonio Briones-Ortega tiene su propia insignia y uniforme del NEPD.

Y el oficial de policía retirado de San Antonio Frank San Miguel es una fuerza positiva y un par de ojos extra para los estudiantes y el personal. Cada semana, ofrece su tiempo como voluntario en Encino Park, Longs Creek y Regency Place Elementary School revisando las puertas y construyendo relaciones con nuestros estudiantes. 

Hay muchos héroes anónimos excepcionales en todo nuestro Distrito. Estas son solo algunas de las personas increíbles que honraremos en nuestra Ceremonia de Premios del Superintendente el próximo miércoles 14 de diciembre. 

Fans de los Spurs, no querrán perderse este descuento. El martes 17 de enero, será la Noche NEISD en el Centro AT&T cuando los San Antonio Spurs enfrenten a los Nets de Brooklyn. Nuestro personal, familias y miembros de la comunidad están invitados a asistir y representar a NEISD.
