North East ISD is proud to celebrate the Summa Cum Laude students at Legacy of Educational Excellence (LEE) High School. These ceremonies honor the incredible accomplishments of the dedicated students who are graduating from high school with grade point averages above 100. These young men and women mastered every academic test we placed before them and exceeded the highest standards, but they wouldn’t be here without the teachers who inspired them.

There are some people in your life that you meet for a reason. The kind of people that will support you in any way they can, who can give you words of wisdom, and will inspire you to aim grander than most. It has only been two years since I have had the honor of meeting this individual, and truly I have felt myself grow into my own person thanks to them. Thank you, Mr. Everidge, I’ll continue to grow through my future endeavors and hopefully become someone who will be worthy to carry the torch that you so generously handed to me.

Tonight, I am honoring Mrs. Valdez, my kindergarten and second-grade teacher. Where I stand now, I can confidently say that Mrs. Valdez helped me build the very foundation of my future. During my two years as her student, I learned compassion, kindness, understanding, empathy, and most of all developed a burning desire to learn. Because of her, I am able to comfortably make my decision to continue to pursue my education after high school, a decision that without her, may not have been. Thank you, Mrs. Valdez, for everything you taught me and for showing me what it means to be a truly amazing person.
