The District searches for the most qualified, fully-credentialed candidates for principals consideration in filling teacher vacancies. The majority of teachers hired in the district possess full state certification at the time of employment. These candidates will be given preference in the screening and selection process for employment.
Alternative Certification Programs
In identified “critical needs” areas, principals may give consideration to candidates admitted to Alternative Certification Programs (ACP’s) with official approval and sanction by the Texas Education Agency. There are a few local and regional post-baccalaureate programs leading to master’s degrees and teacher certification in “critical needs” areas whose candidates may also be given consideration.
The District considers ACP teacher candidates, which have taken and passed content area TExES certification exam, for the following “critical needs” shortage areas to complete field experience/clinical teaching requirements.
