"Tex" Hill Awarded LEED Gold Certification

United States Green Building Council LEED Gold - USGBC On August 17, 2015, one year after opening its doors as the newest middle school in North East ISD, "Tex" Hill Middle School was awarded LEED Gold Certification. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a rating system created by the United States Green Building Council that evaluates the environmental performance of a building. Projects earn points for environmentally friendly actions taken during construction and use of a building.

As a LEED school, Tex Hill's continuing operation sets the standard for many schools around the district and the country. Originally designed to achieve the LEED Silver rating, Tex Hill exceeded the goal by obtaining the higher Gold rating. Those involved with the project are extremely proud to be awarded such a prestigious and important certification. Tex Hill began its second year in the district welcoming nearly 1,000 students for the 2015-2016 school year on August 24th, 2015.
