Why does my class have an “additional fee payable to the instructor?”

Some classes have a supply fee or food fee that covers additional supplies provided by the instructor. The fee is payable to the instructor at the first class and is in addition to the class tuition, which is paid to Community Education. Supply/food fees are noted in the class description.
